After dropping out of architecture school, Julia decided to pursue what she kept as a hobbie, accessories and jewelry.  She moved to NYC on march 2012 to attend Jewelry School and learn all the techniques of silversmithing.

 

During this summer, she got inspired enough to put a name on her designs  and St. Desiderata was founded during the summer of 2012 in NYC. Keeping her other, more fun, accessories brand SacarinaPOP on an hiatus. She began selling St Desiderata either to friends or gallery shops, and even sending them to Costa Rica, where she is from.

 

After getting a good inside view of how jewelry, and fashion jewelry worked, thanks to her intership-job with NYC based jewelry designer Chris Habana, she learned a lot about jewelry production and designing for private labels. 

She also worked with NYC Fine Jewelry brand Wwake, as a photo editor and production assistant.

 

This was a very important part of her learning process, since she was able to work during and for NY Fashion Week, several events, trade shows and more. Her love for jewelry production and quality assurance grew, and it is one of her favorite parts of the whole process.

 

She has done various collabs with other designers and artists, for FW events, gallery shows and designers markets.

 

She divides her time between Costa Rica, Brazil and NYC.
